Sialkot city is the capital of Sialkot District, located about 125 km (78 mi) north of Lahore in the north-east of the Punjab province in Pakistan.
Industry
Sialkot is traditionally a center of sports goods, surgical instruments, leather goods/garments, cutlery, and musical instruments industries. There are also various types of plastic- and metal-based industries. In view of the existing industries, there exists a good scope for material testing laboratory, forging, electroplating unit, hospital furniture, disposable syringes, hospital gloves, steel furniture, cast iron pipe, steel pipes/tubes, galvanized iron pipe, industrial gloves, and special thread for sports goods industries. For the past several decades, the manufacturers and exporters of the city have been awarded the Annual National Exports Award by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Forward Sports is one of the major suppliers for Adidas and the official brand sponsor for the 2014 games. Recently Forward Sports (Pvt) Ltd got the contract after a long time to provide footballs in the FIFA World Cup 2014 which was held in Brazil.

The literacy rate in Sialkot is estimated around 59%. There are approximately 03 universities/campuses, 157 private/public colleges, 02 medical colleges, 08 O/A-Level schools, 12 accountancy institutions and 11 TEVTA Colleges.

Sialkot is hot and humid during the summer and cold during the winter. June and July are the hottest months. The maximum temperature during winter may drop to -2 °C. The average annual rain fall is about 1000 mm.
